Your writing is yours

StoryTrellis exists to sell writing software, not to make money from your data. This page says plainly what we store and what we will never do with it.

What we will not do

We do not sell your data or your writing to anyone. We do not use your manuscripts, notes, or research to train AI models, and we do not let anyone else do so. We do not show ads and we do not run ad trackers. Your work is visible to other people only when you share it yourself, for example by sending a beta-reader link.

What we store

Your account details (name, email, and a hashed password), the content you create in the app (projects, spreadsheet cells, notes, drafts, uploads), and the operational records needed to run a paid service, such as your subscription status. Billing itself is handled by Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, so card numbers never touch our servers. Transactional email (verification and password-reset messages) is delivered through Resend.

The application and database run on Render, and uploaded files live in Cloudflare R2 object storage. Data is encrypted in transit, and every account's content is isolated at the database level. We look at the content of your projects only if you ask us to while helping you with a problem.

Deleting your data

Deleting a project removes its content, including uploaded files. If a trial or subscription lapses, your account becomes read-only first, and we email you before anything is removed, so an expired card never silently costs you a manuscript.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you want your data removed, email support@story-trellis.com and a human will answer.
